Samsung Galaxy Tab vs Apple iPad

Samsung Galaxy Tab and Apple iPad: Specs, Features Compared | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Samsung yesterday introduced its Galaxy Tab, and from the looks of this 7-inch Android-powered tablet, it seems like it might be the first true Apple iPad contender. Since April, there have been a raft of reports of upcoming tablets from HP, Best Buy, LG, RIM, and others. The iPad has dominated this overhyped tablet space, not just because it’s a well-executed device; but very few tablets have actually made it to market. And those that are (or were) available, haven’t really made an impact. JooJoo anyone? We didn’t think so.

This is not to say that the Galaxy Tab is available. According to Samsung, the Tab will come to Europe this month and to the U.S. “in coming months.” But at least the company showed an actual working device at the IFA trade show in Berlin. In anticipation of the Galaxy Tab’s availability, we put it side by side with the Apple iPad to see how they stack up specwise.

If you’re a fan of retro-style games, there is a new game on the App Store waiting for you. The game is called The Incident.

The Incident is a fast-paced, retro-style action game. With this game you will run, dodge and jump your way to safety as massive piles of junk are falling from the sky. All the falling junk will build a mountain of platforms for you to climb up and up again until you get to the source of the Incident.

The variety of objects that fall from the sky is amazing. You will need to avoid boulders, electric guitars, crates, couches, minivans and more. Like most retro-style games, this game is easy to pick-up, but don’t be fooled, because it’s hard to master. It becomes an addictive experience.

The game doesn’t have the high-definition graphics many are becoming accustomed to for the iPad. But, keep in mind this is a retro-style game that comes with great retro-music and great pixel art retro-graphics. The game is loaded with with power-ups and power-downs and hundreds of unique objects.

You can control the game by tilting your iPad right or left to move. You tap on the screen to jump. To move objects you simply walk into them, or you can flip falling junk around by jumping underneath whatever you’re trying to move.

The game includes seven levels that you need to explore and survive. All levels will have a height goal, and you need to make sure you stay on top of the falling pile of junk to climb upwards. Try to beat the game, so that you can unlock all the achievements. But, you will quickly find out that lots of things will be falling very fast and there are hundreds of ways to die.

Based on what we’ve heard, the developers are already working on new updates to add more levels and game-play, and hopefully, some online scoring as well. The Incident is available for download now.

The following video shows you the game in action.
